Ezekiel 3 – Warning to Israel & The Tower of Babel Today

Technology really took off in the early to mid-90s, and due to technology some things have gotten easier and faster to handle, but things have gotten much worse too.  I think the devil is getting really scared so I do expect the antichrist to be showing his ugly face any day now.

Just when you thought insects couldn’t get any creepier, the US Air Force has unveiled tiny finger-sized insect spy drones that would be undetectable to most and can inject toxins into people.

About the five possible suggestions of the antichrist I mention below: I have to disagree, I don’t think any of them are disgusting enough.  Not meaning they aren’t disgusting, they truly are quite nauseating and offensive, but they just don’t have the wit.

Of the five, Hillary is without the smartest and the sneakiest and the scariest is by far Michelle, she could frighten a pit bull.

I apologize Father, if what I say offends my readers, but I have a problem with people that are against the United States and certainly against You.  Besides, I thought I was being polite when I said Michelle could frighten a pit bull.

It appears as though the end time is coming and I think it’s going to be in my lifetime, I might get to see Jesus in a couple decades.

Nobody knows for certain, but the antichrist probably will come from the Middle-East.

I know the devil is very sneaky, he’s like a burglar, he has no spine.  So I’m wondering if he’s going to try and amaze us with some new technology or is he going to shock us with old stuff we know nothing about?

So I want to go back in time and look at…

Ezekiel 3
Warning to Israel

Reconstruction of the central courtyard of a two-storey house in ancient Israel.

1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.

2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

“In my mouth as honey” – what Jeremiah experienced emotionally (Jer 15:16) was experienced by Ezekiel in a more sensory way: Words from God are sweet to the taste (Ps 19:10, 119:103) – even when their content is bitter (Rev 10:9-10).

4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

5 For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel;

6 Not too many people of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

19th century photograph of a Middle Eastern village; note the stone, some rough and some dressed; small windows; doors below street level; flat roofs; haphazard positioning of houses.

“They would have hearkened unto me” – Jesus spoke similar words to Israel (Matt 11:21).

7 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.

8 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.

9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

“Harder than flint have I made thy forehead” – strength and courage were necessary equipment for a prophet, especially when preaching judgment.  Jerusalem was similarly equipped (Jer 1:8).

10 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

11 And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

“Go…to them of that captivity…the children of thy people” – Ezekiel’s ministry was to the exilic community, most of whom refused to believe that God would abandon Jerusalem and the temple.  After the fall of Jerusalem, therefore, they were strongly inclined to despair.

12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.

Excavated foundations of a two-room house in Nazareth, circa 1st century A.D.

13 I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.

14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

15 Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

“Tel-abib” – the only mention of the specific place where the exiles lived.  In Babylonian the name means “mount of the flood (i.e., destruction”,” apparently referring to the ruined condition of the site.

When used of the modern Israel city, Tel Aviv, this name (Abib and Aviv are the same word in Hebrew) is understood to mean “hill of grain.”

16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

“I have made thee a watchman” – in ancient Israel, watchmen were stationed on the highest parts of the city wall to inform its inhabitants of the progress of a battle or of approaching messengers.  The prophets were spiritual watchmen, relaying God’s word to the people.

Ezekiel’s function as a watchman was not so much to warn the exiles of the impending doom of Jerusalem as to teach that God holds each one responsible for his own behavior.

18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Nomadic tents were larger than most modern tents, having two separate sections, front and back.
Nomadic tents woven from goats’ hair; the front flap and sides can be raised to allow the passage of fresh air.

19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

22 And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.

23 Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.

24 Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.

25 But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:

26 And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house.

27 But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

The Tower of Babel Today

The Tower of Babel next to the European Union the Parliament

The Bible does not tell us of a new Tower of Babel.  It does not tell us there will be a One World Order.  Yet, it does warn us of the end time (Matt 24).  So let’s just take a quick look at some things.

Centuries Ago

Satan has desired to control the world since the beginning of humanity.  The rules of his game are deception and the goal is world domination.

Anton La Vay is the creator of the modern day Church Of Satan. Anton has manipulated lots and lots of people into joining the Church Of Satan. People all around the world are participating in this religion. Teenagers everywhere are wearing the clothes that Satanists wear, listening to this Satanic music by artists who are Satanists, even practicing the magic of Satanism themselves. This religion has spread everywhere. Although there aren’t a lot of people who would admit that they use Satanism as their religion, there are thousands of people who follow this religion. It didn’t just start with Anton La Vay. Satanism has been around for a very long time. All across the world, similar religions and private groups are available, using the same rituals and magical practices as the Church Of Satan.

The devil began his game at the beginning of time.

First, Adam and Eve (Gen 3:1-7).

Then the world had become so evil that God destroyed the world by a massive flood (Gen 6:5-18).

And later, mankind was already uniting once again in rebellion against God. So the Lord stopped the building of the city and Tower of Babel by confounding their languages and scattering mankind across the face of the earth (Gen 11:4-8).

Still today, Satan is uniting the world together against God.  The devil wants One World Order for the simple reason that it will be much easier for him to control us and to try and show us how impressive he is.  I know how impressive he is, about as impressive as a dog turd.

Yet, the majority of the world will cling to him like flies because most of the world stinks too.

Anything that has to do with God Satan will do his best to counterfeit and/or destroy.

Antichrist

The Bible does not tell us who the antichrist will be, but it does give us an idea of where he may come from.  The books of Daniel, Isaiah and Revelation say the most about it.

Some scholars say he will come from the Middle-East, as did Nostradamus.  Some say he’ll come from Rome others from Syria.  Yet, nobody knows for certain.

Some people think the antichrist could be:

Bush is the man who gave us the war in Iraq and Guantánamo and torture and rendition; who turned the Clinton economy and the budget surplus into fool’s gold; who dithered while New Orleans drowned; who trampled our civil liberties at home and ruined our reputation abroad; who let Dick Cheney run hog wild and thought Brownie was doing a heck of a job.

OR

Obama has increased the national debt more than any other United States President; lied repeatedly to America; works for the New World Order elite; hates America; hates the God of the Bible, Christianity, patriots and the traditional family.

Obama promised not to raise taxes; but he did; promised not to propose any laws without first notifying the American public, but he has been secretive about many news laws; he broke his campaign pledge not to hire Wall Street insiders; promised to bring the troops home; but he has sent more. OR

Pope Francis cranked up his charm offensive on the world outside the Vatican, saying that each person “must choose to follow the good and fight evil as he conceives them” and calling efforts to convert people to Christianity “solemn nonsense.”

The Vatican’s head seemed intent on distancing himself from its power, saying church leaders “have often been narcissists” and “clericalism should not have anything to do with Christianity.”

Does it have to be a man?  What’s wrong with one of these lovely ladies? OR

Hillary Clinton is or close to being the most corrupt person on the planet (President Bill Clinton could be worse, but I doubt it).  For the record:

– The only president ever impeached on grounds of personal malfeasance

– Most number of convictions and guilty pleas by friends and associates

– Most number of cabinet officials to come under criminal investigation

– Most number of witnesses to flee country or refuse to testify

– Most number of witnesses to die suddenly

– First president sued for sexual harassment

– Second president accused of rape

– First lady to come under criminal investigation

– Largest criminal plea agreement in an illegal campaign contribution case

– First president to establish a legal defense fund

– First president to be held in contempt of court

– Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions

– Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions from abroad

– First president disbarred from the United States Supreme Court and a state court OR

Michelle Obama is a sexist, a racist, a bigot, a Marxist, and she links with socialists, communists and other high ranking radicals that wish nothing more than to destroy the United States as it is, and create a brand new United States!

Some suggest that the antichrist will be European.  Maybe French?

Possible Headquarters
of the New World Order?

The European Union’s Parliament Building in Strasbourg has been deliberately designed to represent the Tower of Babel, as per the famous painting by Peter Brueghel in 1563 (at the top of the page and to the left directly above) .
The logic behind this symbolism is the the EU is seeking to “build the house of Europe” – a task yet to be completed. The building is complete and in use, but is designed to look unfinished, and even has ringed platforms around it to represent scaffolding.

Still today we find evidence of the religion of Babylon.  The European Union’s Parliament Building in Strasbourg has been deliberately designed to represent the Tower of Babel, as per the famous painting by Peter Brueghel, painted in 1563.

When asked by a secular journalist:

Why the Tower of Babel?

A European Union official replied,

What they failed to complete 3000 years ago – we in Europe will finish now.

“Do you think Satan is going to give us the heads up on who the antichrist will be?”  I seriously doubt it.

Do you think that Obama became president, especially the second time, by votes?  Read your Bible and walk with God and He will show you things that you will understand without seeing.

And as I said, Satan is not impressive, the man that impresses me you can read about here.

The good news is, those that walk with Jesus have nothing to fear.

Ezekiel 2 – Ezekiel’s Commission & Astral Worship

I used to read up on Astrology, it was fun and interesting, but I never believed in it.  Astrology is like World Wrestling on TV, the wrestling part is true, but the rest is pre-planned.

I never knew much about outer space, but wow!  The things You did on earth is awesome, but what You did in outer spaces is incredible.  No one can do the things You do so why would anyone want to worship a false god?  Let alone Satan, he’s such a loser.

I know that Satan is sneaky, he’s like an alcoholic or drug addict, he’ll do whatever to get his fix.  So after reading all of this stuff, I have to look into…

Ezekiel 2
Ezekiel’s Commission

Symbol of Babylonian sun-god Shamash.

1 And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.

2 And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.

4 For they are impudent children and stiff hearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.

5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

“Briers and thorns…scorpions” – vivid images of those who would make life difficult for the prophet.

7 And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

Neo-Assyrian standing stone (stele/stela) dating from about 824-811 B.C., which depicts King Shamshi-Adad V. In particular, note the necklace the King is wearing. On it is what is called a Cross Pattée or Cross Formée. Twenty-eight hundred years ago that shape was symbolic of pagan sun worship.
The Pope wears a similar symbol around his neck, on the Pallium, which the Pope also confers on selected bishops as an ornamental token of his favor, and it is also worn by archbishops and patriarchs as a symbol of their authority as a metropolitan, derived from unity with the Pope. Note also, that beneath John Paul’s Pallium there is an “x” / diagonal cross, which mimics the diagonal bands below the Cross Pattée worn by the pagan king. The Pope also has a ring and staff of authority, remarkably similar to the depiction of the sun god Shamash on the Babylonian tablet shown previously.

8 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;

10 And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

“Written within and without” – normally, ancient scrolls were written on one side only.  The implication here is that the scroll was thoroughly saturated with words of divine judgment.  See Zech 5:3 and Rev 5:1 for the same figure.

“Lamentations, and mourning, and woe” – although Ezekiel was alter commanded to preach hope, his initial commission (until the fall of Jerusalem) was to declare God’s displeasure and the certainty of His judgment on Jerusalem and all of Judah.

…the Tower of Babel of today.

Astral Worship

Astrology or any type of star worshipping is against God, its idolatry, and extremely dangerous!

IT’S THE WORK OF THE DEVIL!

God’s majesty on earth is amazing,
and the sky is awesome!

PILLARS OF CREATION
This image, entitled The Pillars of Creation is one of the most famous photographs taken by the Hubble Telescope, and shows vast interstellar clouds. The picture captures a portion of the Eagle Nebula, and what we are seeing is actually the creation of new stars in this young nebula.

“If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant.

And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the hosts of heaven (stars, planets, etc.), which I have not commanded;

And it be told thee and thou hast heard of it and enquired diligently and behold, it be true and the thing certain that such abomination is wrought in Israel:

Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman and shalt stone them with stones till they die” (Deut 17:2-5).

Astral worship is probably as old as prostitution, and the devil founded both destructive ideals, what a guy.

I don’t think it’s fair to see Satan as just an evil being when he is so much more.  He’s very patient, spontaneous, and never quits trying to destroy souls.  Makes you think of our government.

In the Beginning

At left is a tablet from the early 9th century B.C. which depicts the Babylonian sun-god Shamash seated on the right, holding emblems of his authority, a staff and ring, and the king with two attendants on the left. In the center, on an altar, is a large 4-point sun image, with additional small wavy rays between the points.

It is unknown for certain but the study of the stars probably began on around the time the Tower of Babel was being built, another one of the devil’s ideas. And that might even be the purpose of the Tower of Babel.

What person on earth came up with that fabulous idea to go against God is unknown, but many believe it was Nimrod, the grandson of Ham, the son that Noah had cursed.

Nimrod also ruled a kingdom, which consisted of Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh that was in the land of Shinar.  He also built Nineveh, Rehoboth, Calah, and Resen.  Nineveh was one of the most evil cites on earth (Jonah hated the people there).

Nimrod, the grandson of Ham and the great grandson of Noah, was the real founder of the Babylonian system of worship and government that continues to thrive throughout the world.
Ancient writings speak of Nimrod as the one who started a great, organized world apostasy against God, which still dominates the world. It is said (it’s not in the Bible) that he was so wicked that he married his own mother, Semirami.

It is not for certain where the land of Shinar was, where the Tower of Babel was built.  Some historians/archaeologists believe it was in Syria, but most believe it was in Babylon.  And that’s a real good possibility because some historians believe that the Tower of Babel was a ziggurat and that our word for “Babylon” came from the word “Babel.”

There were many ziggurats in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley. The city of Nineveh had one and Ur of the Chaldees (where Abraham lived at first) had one. What were ziggurats like?

Each one was made of brick and solidly constructed. Each one was also a religious symbol and on top of it stood a small temple that contained an altar where people did their idol worship, sacrificing children, and worship of the sun, moon, and stars.

After God stopped the work on the Tower of Babel (Gen 11:8-9) He had Abraham move from Ur (Gen 12:1) and sometime later He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 19).

Worship of the Sun, Moon and Stars

The heavens are God’s “handiwork” (Ps 8:3; 19:1).

He has all the stars numbered and named (Ps 147:4).

Remains of the Ziggurat of Eanna
A TOWER THAT REACHES UNTO THE HEAVENS (cf. constellation worship in the early ANE)
That the ziggurat symbolized the connecting link between heaven and earth is quite clear from cuneiform descriptions and reliefs. The biblical language describing “a tower that reaches to the heavens” is quite typical in comparison to the language used to describe the ziggurats (e.g. “Temple of the Stairway to Pure Heaven” (Sippar); “House binding Heaven and Earth” (Nippur); “Temple Linking Heaven and Earth” (Larsa); “Temple of the Foundation Platform of Heaven and Earth” (Babylon, also used of the Dilbat ziggurat); and so on). Mesopotamian ziggurats were typically given names demonstrating that they were intended to serve as “staircases” or “binding” locations between earth and heaven.

God also arranged the stars into recognizable groups that we call constellations. The Bible mentions three of these: Orion, the Bear (Ursa Major), and “the crooked serpent” (most likely Draco) in Job 9:9, 26:13, 38:31-32 and Amos 5:8.

God is the one who does all this and more” (Job 38-41).

God created the sun, moon, stars, the constellations, and planets to show us His power and majesty.  He wants us to know that He can and will protect us if we trust Him.  He didn’t do that for us to study them and live by them.

God clearly tells us not to study the stars:

“And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the hosts of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them and serve them which the LORD God hat divided unto all nations under the whole heaven” (Deut 4:19.

It is the devil that got people studying the cosmos and created the Zodiac for the sole purpose of taking us away from God.

God’s Glory and Magnificence
Shown in the Stars

The Earth is the third planet from the Sun, and the densest and fifth-largest of the eight planets in the Solar System. It is also the largest of the Solar System’s four terrestrial planets. It is sometimes referr0ed to as the world or the Blue Planet.

If you drove once around the Earth you would have gone 25,000 miles. That would mean 40 to 50 days of driving to just go around once. What is the distance from the Earth to the Sun?
The Sun is 93 million miles away. A 747 jet flies at about 600 miles in one hour. If we could take a 747 jet to the Sun, it would take 17 years to fly from the Earth to the Sun.

Radius: 3,959 miles (6,371 km)

Age: 4.54 billion years

Mass: 5.972 E 24 kg

Surface area: 196.9 million sq. miles (510.1 million km²)

Population: 7.046 billion (2012)

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (Gen 1:1-2).

Earth is positioned perfectly in our solar system to allow just the right amount of heat from the sun to sustain life.  Closer to the sun and it would be too hot or further away and it would be too cold.

The center of our galaxy is about 27,000 light years from us. Our sister galaxy, called M31, is two million light years away! It is part of the ‘local group’ of galaxies. The Magellenic Clouds, which are seen only from the Southern Hemisphere, are the closest galaxies of the local group.

Although we think our planet is very large, when we compare it to other objects in our solar system, it is really quite small. We could fit 1000 Earths inside Jupiter. And we could fit 1000 Jupiters inside the Sun. It would take one million Earths to fill the Sun, and our Sun is only about a medium-sized star.

When we look up at stars at night, we are seeing light that left the star a long time ago. The light from Proxima Centauri, the nearest star, takes 4 years to get here. When we look at the fuzzy circle of a distant galaxy, we are seeing light that left that galaxy at least 2 million years ago.

“And God said let there be light and there was light.

And God said,  Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night;  and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years” (Gen 1:3, 6).

This is our galaxy, the Milky Way.  You cannot even see our solar system in this picture because it is too small to see.  To get an idea of how small we really are, you can take a quarter and place it on the ground and then zoom out till you see the entire North American continent.

That is the size of our solar system compared to the Milky Way Galaxy.  The Milky Way Galaxy is only 100,000 light-years in diameter.  Even though we are so small, God is so loving he sent his only Son to die for us.

The Milky Way Galaxy is just one of hundreds of billions of galaxies that populate our universe. Our galaxy’s name – the Milky Way – is a translation from the Latin “Via Lactea” which is derived from the Greek word “Kiklios Galaxios” which means milky circle. If you go to a dark sky location, the plane of the Milky Way appears as a swath of light across the night sky.

Age: estimations range from 800 million to 13.5 billion years old.

Size: estimations vary due to a degree of uncertainty in the observations used to make these determinations.

Diameter: range from from 100,000 light years up to 120,000 light years.

As to the size of the galactic bulge that makes up the core of the galaxy, its diameter is estimated at around 30,000 light years in the north-south direction. The diameter in the equatorial plane is estimated to be 40,000 light years.

Out in the disk of the galaxy, which is where our solar system is located, the thickness of the disk is estimated to be 1,000 light years.

Number of Stars; it’s assumed to be 100 billion stars in the galaxy.

Of course somewhere between 2.5 and 3 million of the solar masses are locked up in a super massive black hole named Sagittarius A that’s at the center of the galaxy. Other more thorough estimates yield numbers of stars that range up to a high of 400 billion.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” (Gen 2:27).

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (Jn 3:16).

The graceful, winding arms of the majestic Whirlpool galaxy appear like a grand spiral staircase sweeping through space. They are actually long lanes of stars and gas laced with dust.  Located 31 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici (the Hunting Dogs).

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handy-work” (Ps 19:1).

The Helix is a planetary nebula, the glowing gaseous envelope expelled by a dying, sun-like star.  Kind of looks like God may be watching?

“For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things” (I Jn 3:20).

This is a panoramic view of a colorful assortment of 100,000 stars residing in the crowded core of a giant star cluster.  The cluster lies about 16,000 light-years from Earth.  There are too many stars in the universe to be able to even put a number to.  A star is born every second and God knows everyone by name!

“He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names” (Ps 147:4).

The Sombrero Galaxy lies at the southern edge of the rich Virgo cluster of galaxies and is one of the most massive objects in that group, equivalent to 800 billion suns. The galaxy is 50,000 light-years across and is located 28 million light-years from Earth.  Is God not all powerful?

“Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things that bringeth out their host by number:  He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one faileth” (Is 40:26).

The brilliant stars seen in this image are members of the popular open star cluster known as the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters. The distance to Pleiades is about 440 light-years.  Even naked eye observers can see the Pleiades open star cluster in neighboring Taurus on a clear night.

“Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades…” (Amos 5:8).

“He who made the Pleiades and Orion” (Job 38:31).

Orion’s belts is located approximately 800-1300 light years away from earth depending on which star you are referencing from.  The belt consists of 3 stars.

“Seek him that maketh the Seven Stars (Pleiades) and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name” (Amos 5:8).

“Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south” (Job 9:9).

This celestial object locate

d within our Milky Way galaxy roughly 3,800 light-years away in the constellation of Scorpius looks like a delicate butterfly. But it is far from serene.  What resemble dainty butterfly wings are actually roiling cauldrons of gas heated to nearly 20,000 degrees Celsius.

The gas is tearing across space at more than 950,000 kilometers per hour — fast enough to travel from Earth to the Moon in 24 minutes!  The star’s surface temperature is estimated to be over 220,000 degrees Celsius, making it one of the hottest known stars in our galaxy.  God’s majesty displayed in the heavens!

“Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands” (Ps 102:25).

This object is actually a billowing tower of cold gas and dust rising from a stellar nursery called the Eagle Nebula. The soaring tower is 9.5 light-years or about 90 trillion kilometers high, about twice the distance from our Sun to the next nearest star.  Stars in the Eagle Nebula are born in clouds of cold hydrogen gas that reside in chaotic neighborhoods.  The tower may be a giant incubator for those newborn stars.

“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4. What is man, that thou art mindful of him?  And the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5. For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor” (Ps 8:3).

Huge waves are sculpted in this two-lobed nebula some 3000 light-years away in the constellation of Sagittarius. This warm planetary nebula harbors one of the hottest stars known and its powerful stellar winds generate waves 100 billion kilometers high. The waves are caused by supersonic shocks, formed when the local gas is compressed and heated in front of the rapidly expanding lobes. The atoms caught in the shock emit the spectacular radiation seen in this image.

“And I shall show wonders in the heaven above…” (Acts 2:19).

The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope captured this billowing cloud of cold interstellar gas and dust rising from a tempestuous stellar nursery located in the Carina Nebula, 7500 light-years away in the southern constellation of Carina. This pillar of dust and gas serves as an incubator for new stars and is teeming with new star-forming activity.

“By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens…” (Job 26:13).

“For all the gods of the people are idols:  but the Lord made the heavens” (I Chr 16:26).

This view of nearly 10,000 galaxies is the deepest visible-light image of the cosmos. Called the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, this galaxy-studded view represents a “deep” core sample of the universe, cutting across billions of light-years.

“He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion” (Jer 10:12).

The Pinwheel Galaxy resides 100 million light-years (30 Mega parsecs) from Earth. It is one of about 200 galaxies that make up the Eridanus group of galaxies.  Speed of light is approximately 650 million miles/hour.

It would take about 97,800,000 years for light from the Pinwheel Galaxy to reach Earth.  Remember that the Milky Way Galaxy is only 100,000 light-years in diameter.  Hundreds of galaxies can be seen in this picture.  Makes you realize just how small we are and how grand God is!

“Is not God in the height of heaven?  And behold the height of the stars, how high they are!” ( Job 22:12).

A collision of two galaxies has left a merged star system with an unusual appearance as well as bizarre internal motions. Messier 64 (M64) has a spectacular dark band of absorbing dust in front of the galaxy’s bright nucleus, giving rise to its nicknames of the “Black Eye” galaxy.

As in the majority of galaxies, all of the stars in M64 are rotating in the same direction, clockwise as seen in the Hubble image.

However, detailed studies in the 1990s led to the remarkable discovery that the interstellar gas in the outer regions of M64 rotates in the opposite direction from the gas and stars in the inner regions.  Located in the northern constellation Coma Berenices, M64 resides roughly 17 million light-years from Earth.

“Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the majesty:  for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all” (1 Chr 29:11).

The larger of the spiral galaxies, known as UGC 1810, has a disk that is tidally distorted into a rose-like shape by the gravitational tidal pull of the companion galaxy below it, known as UGC 1813. A swath of blue jewels across the top is the combined light from clusters of intensely bright and hot young blue stars.

These massive stars glow fiercely in ultraviolet light.  Arp 273 lies in the constellation Andromeda and is roughly 300 million light-years away from Earth. The image shows a tenuous tidal bridge of material between the two galaxies that are separated by tens of thousands of light-years from each other.

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost” (Rom 15:13).

A nearly perfect ring of hot, blue stars pinwheels about the yellow nucleus of an unusual galaxy known as Hoag’s Object.  The entire galaxy is about 120,000 light-years wide, which is slightly larger than our Milky Way Galaxy. The blue ring, which is dominated by clusters of young, massive stars, contrasts sharply with the yellow nucleus of mostly older stars.

What appears to be a “gap” separating the two stellar populations may actually contain some star clusters that are almost too faint to see. Curiously, an object that bears an uncanny resemblance to Hoag’s Object can be seen in the gap at the one o’clock position. The object is probably a background ring galaxy.

“And they that be wise shall shine as the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever” (Dan 12: 3).

First direct view of an immense ring of dust which fuels a massive black hole at the heart of the Pinwheel galaxy. Surprisingly, they found that the ring is standing almost perpendicularly to the relatively flat spiral galaxy, like a top spinning on its side with respect to the floor. Even more surprising is the discovery of a secondary ring or dust lane which is contrary to all expectations.  Looks like God is telling us something?

“And having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven” (Col 1:20).

Conclusion

If God wanted us to study the stars He would have told us to do so.

The stars should awaken wonder at God’s power, wisdom, and infinitude. We should use the stars to keep track of time and place and to remind us of God’s faithful, covenant-keeping nature.

All the while, we acknowledge the Creator of the heavens. Our wisdom comes from God, not the stars (Jas 1:5)

Astral Worshipping, Astrology, and the like will place you in hell.

Another one of Satan’s traits that I left out above is that he’s a loser, and he pouts when he doesn’t get is way.

The devil would love to have us worship him, but if not that’s okay as long as we don’t worship God.  He’s like some couples when they break-up, “If they can’t have you neither can anyone else.”

The devil is not your friend, he has no friends, as the song “American Pie” says, and “Fire is his only friend”.

The only way to get to heaven is:

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me” (Jn 14:6).

Ezekiel 1 – The Vision of the Four Creatures & Do Not Lay Up for Yourselves Treasures on Earth

Wow!  I gotta tell you Father, that’s kind of spooky, but so are You.  I’m sure many think these four beasts aren’t real, just symbolic, and it could be, but I doubt it.  There’s nothing on earth that’s like the Cherubim, but You aren’t from this world.  As Jesus said:

And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above; ye are of this world; I am not of this world” (Jn 8:23).

“Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world…” (Jn 18:36).

What Ezekiel saw is outer space stuff, but of course, that’s where You are.  It’s bad enough that so many people now and back then didn’t worship You, but worship man-made wooden or metal dolls.  That in itself is flat out dumb, but what’s just as stupid is…

Ezekiel 1
The Vision of the Four Creatures

In the land of the Chaldeans the Chebar River wound round and round and in and out as if flowed randomly
northwest to the Euphrates and eventually northeast to the Ulai. It totaled about 302 miles. It was on the

banks of this great river that Ezekiel encountered four beings which he instantaneously knew to be Cherubim.

1 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

“The thirtieth year” – or “my thirtieth year,” probably Ezekiel’s age.  According to Num 4:3, a person entered the Levitical priesthood in his 30th year.  Denied the priesthood in exile, Ezekiel received another commission, that of a prophet.

“River of Chebar” – a canal of the Euphrates near the city of Nippur, south of Babylon, and possibly a place of prayer for the exiles.

2 In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin’s captivity,

3 The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.

4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire unfolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

“Four living creatures” – “Four,” stands for completeness (cf. the four directions in Gen 13:14 and the four quarters of the earth in Is 11:12), is used often in this chapter and over 40 times in the book.

The living creatures, called “cherubims” in chapter 10, are throne attendants here representing God’s creation: “man,” God’s ordained ruler of creation (see Gen 1:26-27; Ps 8). “lion,” the strongest of the wild beasts; “ox,” the most powerful of the domesticated animals; “eagle,” the mightiest of the birds.

These four creatures appear again in Rev 4:7 and often are seen in the paintings and sculpture of the Middle Ages where they represent the four Gospels.

6 And everyone had four faces, and everyone had four wings.

Nippur, ancient city of Babylonia on the Euphrates River. In Sumerian times, it was a major religious center.

7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot: and they sparkled like the color of burnished brass.

8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

“Full of eyes” – symbolizing God’s all seeing nature.

9 Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went everyone straight forward.

10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of everyone were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

12 And they went everyone straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

I like this drawing, that doesn’t mean that’s what they look like though.
A Cherubim isn’t a baby angel like a lot of people. Ezekiel Chapter One clearly states what they are. They guarded the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve were exiled (Gen 3:24) and they are mentioned numerous times in the Bible including being the living chariot of God himself.

13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

15 Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the color of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

17 When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

18 As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.

From Mesopotamia the Canaanites found their way southward.
They came into the land we now call Palestine, crossed over into Africa (under the watchful eye of the early adepts of the Hebrew mysteries), and imposed themselves into the early Dynasties of Egypt.

In so doing they were instrumental in giving political shape and religious form to the Mystery of Iniquity that would culminate some three thousand years later in the emergence of the Seventh world-empire (the Holy Roman empire),

19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

20 Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

22 And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the color of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

23 And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: everyone had two, which covered on this side, and everyone had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of a host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

Remnants of the 1st century Stairs of Ascent, discovered by archaeologist Benjamin Mazar, to the entrance of the Temple Courtyard. Pilgrims coming to make sacrifices at the Temple would have entered and exited by this stairway.

25 And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

27 And I saw as the color of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

“Glory of the LORD” – when God’s glory was symbolically revealed, it took the form of brilliant light (see Ex 40:34; Is 6:3).  What is remarkable about Ezekiel’s experience is that God’s glory had for centuries been associated with the temple in Jerusalem.

Now God had left His temple and was appearing to His exiled people in Babylon – a major theme in the first half of Ezekiel’s message.  In his vision of the restored Jerusalem the prophet saw the glory of the Lord returning.

Do Not Lay Up for Yourselves
Treasures on Earth

The four beasts that Ezekiel talks about in chapter 1 is bizarre, but Daniel talks about them in the Book of Daniel and the Apostle John speaks of them in the Book of Revelation so we certainly cannot disregard it as nonsense, especially since there is no nonsense in the world of God.

God explains many things to me, but He has not given me explicit understanding of the “four beasts” or the “wheel within the wheel.”  I have researched what others have interpreted it to mean and some are pretty farfetched and don’t fit with my understanding of God so I have dismissed them, but…

The Four Beasts

This is what Hannah’s Cupboard says about the four beasts, which I agree with and understand:

What did the four living creatures in Ezekiel signify?  How come they each had a face representing the ox, eagle, lion and man? What’s up with the wheel in the middle of a wheel?

The four living creatures are beings created by God who reside around his throne. When Ezekiel saw them he was glimpsing into the third heaven and seeing what takes place in heavenly eternal places. He is not the only one who saw them.

Can you imagine trying to describe something that has no equal on earth and that you have never seen or suspected existed before? Both Ezekiel and John gave it their best shot but human language falls far short of describing the mystery of God.

Because these creatures reside in heaven, there is much mystery surrounding them and their meaning. We are not privy to understand their total significance so we also have to give it our best shot and know that we simply don’t yet know all the answers.

What do the living creatures signify? Generally it is believed they represent the four greater divisions of animate creation: Wild beasts for the lion, Domesticated beasts for the calf, Humanity for the man, and birds/flying creatures for the eagle.

Because they proclaim praise, worship and thanksgiving; all of creation is represented giving God the adoration he deserves.

Hannah’s Cupboard’s description of the beasts is somewhat vague, and I understand them a bit different:

The Lion – the king of the beasts represents majesty.  As Christ is portrayed “King of Kings”.

The Calf – frequently used for sacrifice. Christ was a “Sacrifice” for our sins.

The Man – represents Christ as a man. The Gospel of Luke presents Christ as the perfect man.  Also, as described in Philippians 2, Christ left His position of glory with the Father and became a man so that He might die on the cross for our sin.

The Eagle – symbolizes Sovereignty and Supremacy and represents Christ in all His deity.

Some see the various faces symbolizing God’s rule over all of creation. The fact that the creatures are full of eyes symbolizes God’s all-seeing nature and the omnipresence of God. Another aspect of the numerous eyes may be a sense of constant watchfulness.

The Wheel
Inside the Wheel

The wheel inside the wheel? The fact that one of the wheels touched the earth and could move in any direction probably indicates God’s rule and control over the affairs of the earth. He can go where he wants whenever he wants. The wheels followed the spirit which may represent the Holy Spirit.

Here is another interpretation of the wheel inside the wheel and they could both be correct or none at all:

The wheel within the wheel is the center-point of God’s will.  The center wheel is the Holy Ghost’s presence in each and every one of us.  As we center ourselves and balance ourselves in faith, labor, works and family.

Conclusion

As I said at the beginning, God did not given me details of Ezekiel’s vision of the four creatures or the wheel inside the wheel, but He told me more by directing me to the below scriptures.

As it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (1 Cor 2:9).

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Matt 6:19-21).

And that is all we need to know.
