Isaiah 64 – A Confession of Sin, and Afflictions Bewailed & What is Being Taught in American Schools?

Finger Pointing UpThis is all good, I’m ready to get out of this world and be with You for eternity (Matt 24),  but his is sad for most because Jesus said most people are going to hell, but that’s their choice,

1 If Stones Could Speak
“I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out,” said Jesus (Luke 19:40).
He was referring to what would happen if His disciples did not bear testimony of Him.

The original disciples aren’t around to provide their eyewitness accounts of Jesus Christ, but we do have the inspired Word of God, which they, along with many others, wrote.

Significantly enough, we also have the testimony of stones that really can bear witness to the veracity and inspiration of God’s Word. The physical evidence unearthed by present-day scientists can and does speak to us through biblical archaeology.

Archae, which comes from the Greek, means “ancient,” and ology, which comes from the Greek logia , means “science.” Archaeology, then, is the scientific study of ancient things.

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat.

Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto left, and few there be that find it” (Matt 7:13-14).

I know our country has really messed up, it’s become really bad.  So a lot of the schools are teaching Darwin’s Theory of Evolution.

1 Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,

“Rend the heavens” – the sky is compared to a rent curtain.  For this and the further description of the cosmic effects of God’s coming in judgment and redemption.

2 As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!

3 When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.

4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

This verse is quoted in 1 Cor 2:9 with reference to the truths that God has revealed through the Holy Spirit.

5 Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.

“Worketh righteousness” – God’s blessing is conditioned upon obedience, not work.  The difference between the old and new covenants is not a lessening of the demand for obedience, but rather the enablement of grace in the new covenant that makes obedience possible.

6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

9  Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity forever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.

10 Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

2 Napoleon
Unearthing the Origins of Archaeology
Englishman Flinders Petrie is generally considered the individual who put archaeological methodology on a scientific footing. He is credited with transforming archaeology from a treasure hunt into a disciplined search for information about the past. It was not until the 19th century that scientific methods were rigorously applied to excavations of historical sites.

A curious fact of history is that the person who indirectly contributed to this process was not a scientist but the French emperor and conqueror Napoleon Bonaparte. During his conquests of Europe and the Middle East, Napoleon arrived in Egypt in the late 1700s hoping to build the Suez Canal and drastically reduce the navigation time for the trade route from France to India. In Egypt, before a battle in the vicinity of the famous pyramids of Gizeh, he told his soldiers, “Forty centuries are looking down upon you from these pyramids.”

His inquisitive mind led him to study the Egyptian culture and try to decipher strange drawings he saw in the ancient monuments. For that purpose, he brought along 175 French scholars and researchers, and together they set up an institute in Egypt to study the writings and ancient relics of the area.

The deciphering of the Egyptian hieroglyphics (a word meaning priestly or sacred writings) can be attributed mostly to a young scientist of that time, Jean François Champollion. Accurate translations were made possible largely by the discovery in 1799 of a large black basalt rock by French soldiers at the town of Rosetta. Later to be known as the Rosetta Stone, it bore a trilingual inscription in Old Egyptian hieroglyphic, demotic (a later, simplified form of Egyptian hieroglyphics) and Greek. With this stone as a key, Champollion in 1822 could finally decipher the ancient hieroglyphics.

The deciphering of the Egyptian hieroglyphics brought the culture of the Pharaohs to light, and the educated classes of Europe gained insight into this fascinating subject. Soon, many amateur archaeologists were on their way to fame and fortune, finding fabulous monuments and other treasures. Museums throughout Europe and America vied with each other to house these marvelous finds. The treasure-laden tomb of Tutankhamen, discovered in 1922, was one of the most spectacular. Many early archaeologists would be honored for their efforts and would become a part of history in their own right.

11 Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

12 Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?

What is Being Taught in American Schools?

The Bible is real clear about adultery and fornication:

Marriage is honorable on all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge (Heb 13:4).

Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife and let every woman have her own husband (1 Cor 7:2).

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience (Col 3:5-6).

Some people think a five-year old is too young for sex education.  Administrators with Chicago Public schools do not.  New to the curriculum this year, mandatory sexual and health education for kindergarten classes.

In 2007 Obama was asked what he thought about the idea and he said,

It is the right thing to do, to provide age-appropriate sex education, science-based sex education in the schools.”  Obama tried to support the idea in 2003 too.

Each and every state is no longer educating the students correctly.  Here is one thing that Texas is actually doing right, Texas students a still being taught the Bible, that the God created the earth.  Yet many states teach Darwin’s Theory of Evolution.

Okay, so Texas did a good thing, but look at these 8 things that students are also learning in Texas, but I’m sure it’s not just in Texas.

1.  Islam is awesome

2.  Christianity is a cult

3.  Communism is awesome

4.  Hey kids! Let’s make communist flags

5.  The Boston Tea Party was a terrorist attack

6.  Christopher Columbus was an eco-warrior

7.  CSCOPE writers pointlessly disparage Paul Revere

8. Murder and extortion were just “protest strategies” used by the Black Panthers

Here’s one from Kentucky:

The teacher draped an American flag on the ground and encouraged students to step on it as part of an art project.

To me a flag is just a flag, but in a case like this the teacher is trying to teach the students that America is nothing.

Obama says that he plans to provide new resources that communities can use to make schools safer.  Yeah, get a load of this:

1.  Hire school resource officers — specially trained police officers who not only enforce the law but act as teachers and mentors.

2.  Hire school psychologists, social workers, and counselors to support students struggling with mental health issues and help avert crises before they occur.

3.  Purchase school safety equipment, like security cameras and secure locking systems.

4.  Does that sound like he’s trying to make things safer?  You’re going to love this:

On July 26th Obama signed an executive order titled the “African American Education Initiative.”

The order essentially gives a green light for black students to misbehave in public schools.

In two places, Obama’s executive order calls on schools to reduce the number disciplinary actions taken against blacks students.

The order specifically calls on schools too “not rely on methods that result in disparate use of disciplinary tools.

As I had said, our country started going downhill in 1962 when prayer was removed from the school.  Things started getting when Old Bush was elected and it has gotten worse and worse ever since.

So what happens when you ignore or defy or ridicule God?

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?  For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up (2 Pet 3:3-10).

I’m going to look a bit deeper into what foolishness Darwin came up with.
