John 12 – Jesus Anointed at Bethany & The Evil United States

Finger Pointing UpBelow we’re talking about what the devil is doing, where do you want to be when Jesus comes back?  With the sheep or the wolves?

The pictures are true signs that are on the Northbound on I-5 (88 miles south of Seattle).

The federal government is now petitioning to have these signs removed, or Washington state will be denied additional monies for interstate highways.

The State of Washington replied, they will secede from the Union rather than be intimidated. These are a matter of free speech paid for by a private citizen. It seems the Obama government had uses intimidation and ignored the first amendment when they wanted to silence someone.

People get baptized to show how much they love Jesus, like a wedding ring shows you love your spouse.  Some people go the extra mile to show that Jesus is always on their mind.  Tomorrow we are going to go back to Noah and show…

John 12
Jesus Anointed at Bethany

1 6  1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.

“Spikenard” – the name of both a plant and the fragrant oil it yielded.  Since it was very expensive, Mary’s act of devotion was costly.

It was also an unusual act, both because she poured the oil on Jesus’ feet (normally it was poured on the head) and because she used her hair to wipe them (a respectable woman did not unbind her hair in public).

Further, it showed her humility, for it was a servant’s work to attend to the feet.

4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bear what was put therein.

7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

2 18 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

The Jewish leaders previously had spoken of the death of one man (11:50), but now they wanted another death.  Sin grows among the heathens.

11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

“Branches of palm trees” – used in celebration of victory.  John saw a multitude with palm branches in heaven (Rev 7:9).

3 2

“Hosanna” – a Hebrew expression meaning “Save!” that became an exclamation of praise.

14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.

16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

An example of the meaning of 16:13.

17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:4 2

“Greeks” – probably “God-fearers,” people attracted to Judaism by its monotheism and morality, but repelled by its nationalism and morality, but repelled by its nationalism and requirements such as circumcision.  They worshiped in the synagogues but did not become proselytes.

21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

“He that hateth his life…shall keep it” – to love one’s life here and now – to concentrate on one’s own success – is to lose what matters.  Supremely, of course, the principle is seen in the cross of Jesus.

5 1

“Hateth” – love for God must be such that all other loves are, by comparison, hatred.

26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said An angel spake to him.

30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.6 2

“Of this world” – the cross was God’s judgment on the world.

“The prince of this world” – Satan.  The cross would seem to be his triumph, in fact, it was his defeat.  Out of it would flow the greatest good ever to come to the world.

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

“All men” – Christ will draw people to Himself without regard for nationality, ethnic affiliation or status.

33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

7 3

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

These words from Is 6:10 are quoted by Jesus (Matt 13:14-15; Mk 4:12; Lk 8:10) and by Paul (Acts 28:26-27).

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him. 8 1

“Saw his glory” – Isaiah spoke primarily of the glory of God (Is 6:3).  John spoke of the glory of Jesus and made no basic distinction between the two, attesting Jesus’ oneness with God.

The thought of glory here is complex.  There is the idea of majesty, and there is also the idea that Jesus’ death on the cross and His subsequent resurrection and exaltation show His real glory.

Isaiah foresaw the rejection of Christ as the passages quoted (Is 53:1, 6:10) show.  He spoke of the Messiah both in the words about blind eyes and hard hearts, on the one hand, and about healing, on the other.

This is the cross and this is glory, for the cross and resurrection and exaltation portray both suffering and healing, refection and triumph, humiliation and glory.

42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.10

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

“I am come…into the world” – points to both Jesus’ preexistence and His mission.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

“To judge” – not the purpose of Jesus’ coming, but judgment is the other side of salvation.  It is not the purpose of the sun’s shining to cast shadows, but when the sun shines, shadows are inevitable.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.9 1

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

The Evil United States

Jesus had warned us of the evil politicians, for example:11

“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake” (Matt 24:7-9).

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet 5:8).

This has been going on for centuries and centuries, but it’s getting worse and worse and now the wickedness has finally reached the United States.

A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little girl.  She wanted to know what the United States looked like.  Finally, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed the map of the country.

12

Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to her and said, “Go into the other room and see if you can put this together.”

After a few minutes, she returned and handed him the map, correctly fitted and taped together.

The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly?

“Oh,” she said, “on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus. When I got all of Jesus back where He belonged, then our country just came together.”

13

That map of the United States doesn’t have to be a country; it could be a map of your life.  Hand your life to Jesus and it will all come together.

The following shows what Obama is doing to our country and what Oklahoma has to say about it, and just like the little girl’s map, you can change what you have by giving your problems to Jesus.

“A State with No Republicans!”

Very interesting… Makes ya wanna move there, doesn’t it? (Not!) A wonderful state with zero Republicans – The State of Illinois.15 Chicago

Some interesting data on the ‘state’ of Illinois … There are more people on welfare in Illinois than there are people working. Chicago pays the highest wages to teachers than anywhere else in the U.S. averaging $110,000/year.

Their pensions average 80-90% of their income. Wow, are Illinois and Chicago great or what? Be sure to read till the end. I’ve never heard it explained better. Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago?

Body count: In six months, 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago. 221 killed in Iraq; AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US.

Here’s the Chicago chain of command:

16 Barack Hussein ObamaPresident: Barack Hussein Obama

17 Dick Durbin Senator: Dick Durbin

18 Jesse Jackson Jr.House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr.

19 Pat QuinnGovernor: Pat Quinn

20 Mike MadiganHouse leader: Mike Madigan

Attorney General: Lisa Madigan 21 Lisa Madigan(daughter of Mike)

Mayor: Rahm Emanuel22 Rahm Emanuel

23The leadership in Illinois – all Democrats.

State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country. Can’t blame Republicans; there aren’t any!

Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. Can’t blame Republicans; there aren’t any!24

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he is going to ‘fix’ Washington politics for us?

25 George Ryan

George Ryan is no longer Governor, he is in prison.

26 Rob BlagojevichHe was replaced by Rob Blagojevich who is, that’s right, also in prison.

And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned, and that’s right, he and his wife both are in prison also.

The Land of Lincoln, where our Governors and Representatives make our license plates. What?

As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago, nothing is going to change, except the state will go broke before the country does.

Anybody who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him better take a closer look at the American Indian.

Don’t forget Detroit, another great example of a Democratic empire…

Oklahoma

Oklahoma is the only state that Obama did not win even one county in the last election… While everyone is focusing on Arizona’s new law, look what Oklahoma has been doing!!28

An update from Oklahoma:

Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9 an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol. The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake. Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values… HB 1330

Guess what… Oklahoma did it anyway.

Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen. They all scattered. HB 1804. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.

Guess what… Oklahoma did it anyway.

Recently we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegal’s to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes. Pelosi said it was unconstitutional SB 1102

Guess what… Oklahoma did it anyway.

29
Tornado in El Reno, Oklahoma.

Several weeks ago, we passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. Joining Texas, Montana and Utah as the only states to do so.

More states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Carolina’s, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi and Florida. Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again. HJR 1003

The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns. Oklahoma, a week ago, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles. I’m sure that was a setback for the criminals the Liberals didn’t like it — But….

Guess what… Oklahoma did it anyway.

Just this month, the state has voted and passed a law that ALL drivers’ license exams will be printed in English, and only English, and no other language.

They have been called racist for doing this, but the fact is that ALL of the road signs are in English only. If you want to drive in Oklahoma, you must read and write English. Really simple.

By the way, the Liberals don’t like any of this either

Guess what… who cares… Oklahoma is doing it anyway.
