First Human Sin & The Serpent Seed

Thinking e1539012817663 I believe what Adam and Eve did is called “Passing the Buck.”  So that’s where the politicians learned it.

You sound quite upset about the ordeal, but it was just a simple mistake, wasn’t it?  Or as any politician would call it, “A misunderstanding.

“And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel 1.

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow 2 and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee 3.1. Serpent

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust, thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return” (Gen 3:14-19).

Note: Even though God was angry with Adam and Eve He still loved them and only cursed the serpent and the ground.

1 Rom 16:20 – Christ will destroy the devil

2 Jn 16:21-22 – Pregnancy and birth will be painful

3 1 Cor 11:3 – Jesus stands above all – This was the first prophecy of Jesus’ birth.  …shalt bruise his heel, that is Jesus’ heel, when He puts Satan in the Lake of Fire for eternity.

God had let the world know that He was coming down as a human being, what type of person He was going to be, and even about His crucifixion, centuries and centuries ahead of time.

How can anyone not believe that He is all knowing and all powerful, He controls everything.

Some people think that Satan did more than just convince Eve to eat of the apple.

The word “beguile” also means to seduce and due to v. 15 you have to wonder, did he also have sex with her?

The Serpent Seed

Serpent seed, dual seed or two-seed line is a controversial doctrine, according to which the serpent in the Garden of Eden mated with Eve, and the offspring of their union was Cain.

This belief is still held by some who claim that the Jews, as descendants of Cain, are also descended from the devil.

The doctrine that Eve mated with the serpent, or with Satan, to produce Cain also appears in early Gnostic writings such as the Gospel of Philip (c. 350); however, this teaching was explicitly rejected as heresy by Irenaeus (c. 180) and later mainstream Christian theologians.

2. Gospel of Philip
In the Gospel of Philip, an early Gnostic writing, and in the Zohar, the main literary source for the teachings of

Kabbalah, there is found a teaching that is commonly referred to as “the serpent seed doctrine.”

“Adultery occurred first, then murder. And (Cain) was begotten in adultery, for he was the son of the serpent.

Therefore he became a manslayer just like his other father (the serpent), and he killed his brother (Abel).” [Source: Gospel of Philip, verse 46].

Note that the Gospel Writings have been proven to be false. Yet, that doesn’t necessarily mean that this story is, just don’t ever believe what they say unless they are proven by authentic writings.

A similar doctrine appeared in Jewish midrashic texts in the 9th century and in the Kabalah.

It is considered a false doctrine by mainstream Protestants. Catholic theologians point to the fact that the Bible states that the original sin is that of Adam and Eve eating a forbidden fruit.

Jewish Midrashic texts and identifies many rabbis who taught that Cain was the son of the union between the serpent and Eve. Some Kabbalist rabbis also believe that Cain and Abel were of a different genetic background than Seth.

This is known among Kabbalists as “The Theory of Origins”. The theory teaches that God created two “Adams” (Adam means “man” in Hebrew). To one he gave a soul and to the other he did not give a soul.

The one without a soul is the creature known in Christianity as the serpent. The Kabbalists call the serpent Nahash (meaning serpent in Hebrew). This is recorded in the Zohar:

Two beings [Adam and Nachash] had intercourse with Eve, and she conceived from both and bore two children.

Each followed one of the male parents, and their spirits parted, one to this side and one to the other, and similarly their characters.

On the side of Cain are all the haunts of the evil species; from the side of Abel comes a more merciful class, yet not wholly beneficial – good wine mixed with bad (Zohar 136).

In The Scofield Study Bible Scofield says,

The serpent, in his Edenic form, is not to be thought of as a writhing reptile. That is the effect of the curse (Gen 3:14). The creature which lent itself to Satan may well have been the most beautiful as it was the most “subtle” of creatures less than man.

3. Snake With Foot
Snake With Foot Found in China (different snake then the one mentioned below).

Dean Qiongxiu, 66, said she discovered the reptile clinging to the wall of her bedroom with its talons in the middle of the night. “I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound. I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw,” said Mrs Duan of Suining, southwest China.

Mrs Duan said she was so scared she grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death before preserving its body in a bottle of alcohol.

The snake – 16 inches long and the thickness of a little finger – is now being studied at the Life Sciences Department at China’s West Normal University in Nanchang. Snake expert Long Shuai said: “It is truly shocking but we won’t know the cause until we’ve conducted an autopsy.”

A more common mutation among snakes is the growth of a second head, which occurs in a similar way to the formation of Siamese twins in humans.

Such animals are often caught and preserved as lucky tokens but have very little chance of surviving in the wild anyway, especially as the heads have a tendency to attack each other.

Scofield’s notes are silent as to the idea of Cain being the serpent’s seed, however in Gen 6:2 his notes claimed that while it was an “error” to believe that the offspring mentioned were the product of supernatural unions, it was instead the intermarriage of the “godly line of Seth” with the “godless line of Cain” being referred to.

Advocates suggest that modern Christian translations of the Old Testament reduce emphasis on this concept, which they believe indicated that the serpent had been an upright, human-like creature.

The foundational scripture for the serpent’s seed doctrine appears in Genesis 3:15, which in the King James Version states,

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel (Gen 3:15).

Advocates interpret this literally to mean that an offspring of the Serpent via Eve would eventually lose in a mortal conflict with one of “her seed”.

Eve’s son by Adam would have presumably been called “Adam’s seed” so it has been suggested, since a woman does not naturally produce seed, that “her seed” is the first prophesy of an eventual human messiah produced by means of a virgin birth.

Adherents believe this sets up the serpent’s seed as an antitype to Jesus Christ.

Advocates also point out that in Genesis chapter 4 it is mentioned only once that Adam “knew” his wife, yet twice it is mentioned that she bore sons (Gen 4:1-2).

Advocates also believe an unmentioned act of infidelity is implied by reproductive and marital curses placed on Eve in Gen 3:16, that otherwise seem inappropriate to merely eating a forbidden fruit.

St. Paul seems to suggest as much in the second Epistle to the Corinthians, where he may have implied that Eve was not a chaste virgin at the time Adam first had relations with her:

4. Jesus Christ
Mark Wilson says: “Think the death of Jesus Christ is STILL the most underestimated event in all of human history. I don’t think any of us fully realize the fullness of what happened there.

The more I learn about Him, the more I admire Him. My loyalty is entirely voluntary.” Matthew Henry says: That the powers of darkness shall be triumphed over by them (Psa_91:13): Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder.

The devil is called a roaring lion, the old serpent, the red dragon; so that to this promise the apostle seems to refer in that (Rom_16:20).

The God of peace shall tread Satan under your feet. Christ has broken the serpent’s head, spoiled our spiritual enemies (Col_2:15).

And through him we are more than conquerors; for Christ calls us, as Joshua called the captains of Israel, to come and set our feet on the necks of vanquished enemies.

“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted… (2 Cor 11:2-3).

In the New Testament, the first Epistle of John also states,

Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother (1 Jn 3:12).

John also recorded in his gospel that Christ said,

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him (8:44).

Advocates of the serpent seed doctrine have interpreted these verses to imply that the New Testament writers believed that Cain, the first murderer, was indeed the serpent’s seed.

The doctrine that Eve mated with the serpent, or with Satan, to produce Cain, has been taught in various forms for thousands of years, and it finds its earliest expression in Gnostic writings (e.g., the Gospel of Philip) and especially in Manichaean doctrines; however, it was soundly rejected by mainstream Christian theologians such as Irenaeus in the 2nd century, and St. Augustine in the 4th century.

More recent variants are central to the beliefs of Two-Seed-in-the-Spirit Predestinarian Baptists founded by Daniel Parker. Other variations are espoused by groups that adhere to the Christian Identity movement.

The main variations are on the aftereffects of the act. Some proponents believe that the serpent was Satan himself. Others believe that the serpent was an animal being influenced by Satan.

Another key difference is in the descendants of Cain. Some believe that the two lines remained separate and that eventually Cain’s descendants were all destroyed, others believe that Cain’s descendants became completely mixed with the descendants of Adam (meaning that all humanity is partially descended from Cain), and still others believe that the two lines remain separate to this day.

Finally others disagree whether sex itself was the original sin or if the original sin was sex for pleasure rather than sex for reproduction.

The following points and scriptures are largely agreed upon by all proponents to be the basis of the Serpent Seed doctrine, although variations do occur as mentioned above.

The Two Trees. The starting point of the discussion is usually on the two trees, the Tree of Life and the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen 2:10).

5. A snake ate a crocodile
A snake ate a crocodile and the five-hour epic battle between the enormous 10-foot water python and the meter-long crocodile was captured on camera. Tiffany Corlis, a local reporter from Australia, took a series of camera pictures and video shots documenting the snake’s assault on the crocodile, reported The Sydney Morning Herald on March 3, 2014.

In a video interview, Tiffany Corlis tells the story of how she was at Lake Moondarra in Queensland, Australia, on Sunday having breakfast when canoeists alerted her to the battle going on between the 10-foot water python and the crocodile.

In addition to pictures, video shots taken by Tiffany Corlis show the python slowly moving and devouring the crocodile — head first.

According to the canoeists, the fight between the water python and the crocodile had begun in the water with the crocodile trying to keep its head out of the water to survive.

By the time Tiffany Corlis was able to take camera and video shots, the snake had already coiled its body around the crocodile and was beginning to strangle it. Pythons kill their prey by tightening their coils around the animal as it breathes out.

“It was amazing. We saw the snake fighting with the crocodile – it would roll the crocodile around to get a better grip, and coil its body around the crocodile’s legs to hold it tight. After the crocodile had died, the snake uncoiled itself, came around to the front, and started to eat the crocodile, face-first.”

Another witness watching the battle between the snake and the python said that “the two creatures fought for about five hours.

By the end, they appeared exhausted.” The snake ate the crocodile as shocked onlookers at Lake Moondarra watched.

Tiffany Corlis estimates that it took the python about 15 minutes to devour the crocodile.

The python was “definitely very full,” when it finished, she said.

“I don’t know where it went after that – we all left, thinking we didn’t want to stick around!”

Proponents note the difference between the “trees that grow out the ground” as opposed to “the trees in the midst of the garden.”

This is used to indicate the two trees are not physical trees but principles (e.g. ideas, rules). They also point to the Book of Revelation, where the Tree of Life is now in heaven to show that the two trees are not the same kind of trees that grow on Earth but instead are something spiritual (Rev 2:7, 22:2).

Furthermore they point out that since man chose to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, it should still be visible somewhere in the world today, which they claim is the overt sexuality of society.

The Serpent (Gen 3)

The serpent in its original form was a creature capable of speech, and it had not yet at that point been cursed to go “upon [its] belly”; thus some proponents claim that the “serpent” was originally an upright human-like creature.

Some proponents claim the serpent was intended to be used for manual labor and therefore was made to look like a man but was not given a soul.

The chapter states that the serpent “beguiled” Eve. In Early Modern English this word literally meant to seduce or lead astray.

In the Bible, the sexual act is always obliquely referenced in Moses’ writings. It is always referred to discreetly, such as “knowing“.

Similarly in the Book of Proverbs, it states “such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness” (Prov 30:20).

This is used as evidence that the trees and the fruit are just another cryptic way to describe sex.

The Punishment (Gen 3)

Proponents also point to the punishment to show that the act was sexual. When Adam and Eve sinned they covered their genitals, not their mouths, indicating they sinned not with their mouths but with their genitals.

The punishment God put on them also affected sexual reproduction: He caused the woman to have menstrual cycles and to have increased pain in childbirth.

God’s curse also put enmity between the descendants of Adam (e.g., Abel) and the descendants of the serpent (e.g., Abel’s murderer Cain).

The Birth (Gen 4)

At the birth of Cain, Eve said, “I have gotten a man from the Lord.” Proponents claim that in the remaining two pre-Flood chapters, Adam’s descendants are called the “sons of God”, not “men”, while the word “men” refers solely to the descendants of Cain.

Eve was also called “the mother of all living” (Gen 3:20), but Adam was not similarly called “the father of all living”.

The Offspring (Gen 4)

Cain and Abel were of different occupational backgrounds. Abel tended the flocks and Cain tilled the ground. Proponents claim these traits were inherited from their fathers; Adam was to rule over the animals and the serpent was intended to tend the Garden of Eden.

6. The serpent or snake
The serpent, or snake, is one of the oldest and most widespread mythological symbols.

The word is derived from Latin serpens, a crawling animal or snake.

Snakes have been associated with some of the oldest rituals known to humankind and represent dual expression of good and evil.

In some cultures snakes were fertility symbols, for example the Hopi people of North America performed an annual snake dance to celebrate the union of Snake Youth (a Sky spirit) and Snake Girl (an Underworld spirit) and to renew fertility of Nature.

During the dance, live snakes were handled and at the end of the dance the snakes were released into the fields to guarantee good crops.

“The snake dance is a prayer to the spirits of the clouds, the thunder and the lightning, that the rain may fall on the growing crops..”

In other cultures snakes symbolized the umbilical cord, joining all humans to Mother Earth.

The Great Goddess often had snakes as her familiars – sometimes twining around her sacred staff, as in ancient Crete – and they were worshiped as guardians of her mysteries of birth and regeneration.

Another difference between them was that Abel, being of pure birth, knew how to give a proper sacrifice to God. Cain, not being pure, did not know how to give a proper sacrifice, he only knew he needed to give one, indicating he was only inherited a portion of the knowledge that Abel had inherited.

His impurity was also displayed by his jealousy and murder of Abel, some proponents argue that these are not traits God would have created in Adam and Eve and could not have been inherited from them.

The Two Lines of Descent (Gen 4-5)

Some proponents claim that because the two lines of descent are recorded separately it indicates they were somehow different. It notes how the developments in Cain’s sides were all negative (e.g. Lamech’s declaration in Gen 4:23 that “I have slain a man to my wounding”.

But in Seth’s line (Gen 5) nothing is mentioned of anything evil and each patriarch “begat sons and daughters”.

Ultimately, the two lines intermarry (Gen 6:4 “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bear children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”), and God then destroyed the world with a flood.

Proponents also point to the biological principle of heterosis being evidenced in the offspring of the interbreeding of the two lines being giants.

Ultimately Seth’s line leads to Jesus, who was born of a virgin. Proponents point to the fact that all humanity was impure and therefore incapable of “breeding” a “pure” Son of God as the reason Christ had to be born of a virgin.

Many proponents claim that Christ was born in the same state that Adam was created: perfect and without sin.

They claim he had to be created by God in order for him to be pure and to be the “perfect sacrifice”.

Parable of the Tares (Matthew 13:24-30)

Regardless of the understanding of the Serpent Seed based on the book of Genesis, many who believe in the doctrine hold that one of the most important evidences for the doctrine comes from Jesus unfolding the revelation the Parable of the Tares.

In this parable Jesus confirmed there were two distinct children present in the world until the end.

7. Snake charming 1
Snake charming is the practice of pretending to hypnotise a snake by playing an instrument called pungi.

A typical performance may also include handling the snakes or performing other seemingly dangerous acts, as well as other street performance staples, like juggling and sleight of hand.

The practice is most common in India, though other Asian nations such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia are also home to performers, as are the North African countries of Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.

Ancient Egypt was home to one form of snake charming, though the practice as it exists today likely arose in India.

It eventually spread throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Despite a sort of golden age in the 20th century, snake charming is today in danger of dying out. This is due to a variety of factors, chief among them the recent enforcement of a 1972 law in India banning ownership of snakes.

In retaliation, snake charmers have organized in recent years, protesting the loss of their only means of livelihood, and the government has made some overtures to them.

Many snake charmers live a wandering existence, visiting towns and villages on market days and during festivals.

With a few rare exceptions, however, they typically make every effort to keep themselves from harm’s way.

For one, the charmer typically sits out of biting range, and his animal is sluggish and reluctant to attack anyway.

More drastic means of protection include removing the creature’s fangs or venom glands, or even sewing the snake’s mouth shut.

The most popular species are those native to the snake charmer’s home region, typically various kinds of cobras, though vipers and other types are also used.

Although snakes are able to sense sound, they lack the outer ear that would enable them to hear the music.

They follow the pungi that the “snake charmer” holds with their heads.

The snake considers the person and pungi a threat and responds to it as if it were a predator.

8. Titanoboa
The startling discovery of Titanoboa was made by a team of scientists working in one of the world’s largest open-pit coal mines at Cerrejon in La Guajira, Colombia.

It is a snake that dwarfs the largest anaconda found today, and it has the size and character to challenge T-Rex in the public’s imagination.

A student visiting the coal mine made an intriguing discovery: a fossilized leaf that hinted at an ancient rainforest from the Paleocene epoch.

Over the following decade, collecting expeditions led by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and the Florida Museum of Natural History, University of Florida opened a unique window into perhaps the first rainforest on Earth.

Fossil finds included giant turtles and crocodiles, as well as the first known bean plants and some of the earliest banana, avocado and chocolate plants.

But their most spectacular discovery was the fossilized vertebrae of a previously undiscovered species of snake, one so large it defied imagination.

9. giant man eater
This giant man-eater decided to attack an electric fence. That was alive with electricty.

The result was never going to be in doubt as the snake got tangled up and basically electrocuted himself to death.

Look at those teeth! That’s another reason to be scared of snakes – once one of these bad boys has your leg in his hungry mouth, it’s not coming out in a hurry.
