It’s obvious that You’re big on marriage. What do You think of divorce?
“For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Nevertheless let everyone of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband” (Eph 5:31-33).
“And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
And said, for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together let no man put asunder” (Matt 19:4-6).
“They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
He saith unto them, Moses because of the harness of their hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning, it was not so.
And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her, which is put away, doth commit adultery” (Matt 19:7-9).
This is complicated and there is not enough room to explain it all, but remember that Jesus is the groom and his wife is the church.
He will never divorce His wife, if He did, he would defy Himself.
The Pharisees had claimed that Jesus worked through the power of Satan, and this is what He told them.
“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand” (Matt 12:25).
