Micah 2 – Wicked Deeds of the Rich & Alexander’s Army

Finger Pointing UpIt appears that the world, or at least the United States, is back tracking.

1 Soldiers stationed
Soldiers stationed at Forward Operating Base Apache, Zabul province, Afghanistan, can view the remnants of one of one Alexander the Great’s military fortification not far from their post.

No one can dispute Alexander the Great’s military genius.  I’m no history buff, and certainly not a military genius, but there is another powerful conqueror who I think is better than Julius Caesar (100-44 B.C.) and possibly maybe even better than Alexander the Great and an all-around better person.  That would be Hannibal (247 -183 B.C.).

The odd thing about Hannibal is that, as far as I know, he didn’t have an empire, him and his men would just go around conquering kingdoms and then leave them.  Twice he almost brought Rome down to their knees.

There are many conquers, but I wouldn’t say they all have an evil heart, I don’t think Hannibal did in the sense of being greedy or narcissistic.  I would place Alexander in the same category as Genghis Kahn and Adolf Hitler and the multitude of conquerors like them in regard to their evil ways.

They all conquered for the primarily purpose of being looked up to; to be admired.  Their sole purpose was not just to have an easier life, but make sure their easier life stayed that way, not matter how much it hurt others.

What Does the Future Hold

The devil has wanted One World Order from the beginning, it goes all the way back to the Tower of Babel, after the flood (Gen 11).

2 Has the Pastor
Has the Pastor forgotten about the Illuminati ‘Tower of Babel’ European Parliament building in the same town?)
The legend of the construction of the tower itself is well known for its denunciation and condemnation of God (a classic Illuminati doctrine) which is merely one reason to fear the EU.

And it’s possible that we would already be a One World Order, but 237 years ago God through a wrench in the devil’s plan.

The United States became a country that Trusted in God, it was a Republic.

In time, the United States became a world bully, e.g., insecure and narcissistic.  We don’t fight to conquer, own and control like other countries; our government heads just want to be admired.  Our country is like a teenage boy (as well as some men) who does stupid things in front of a girl thinking that she will be impressed.

The United States is no longer the Republic it had once been, it has slowly become a Democracy (the constitution has been altered drastically, e.g., the Patriot Act).

Who the first president is that started the change is unknown to me, but I would say no later than  Kennedy, then the change slowed down until George H.W. Bush was elected, and ever since it has been moving along quite rapidly, especially when his rotten kid, George W. Bush, was elected.

Obama is a Socialist and a Muslim and he is in the process of changing the United States into an Oligarchy (ruled by a few) and then it’s going to become a Monarchy and there will be no President Obama, but King Obama or possibly Queen Hillary.

How do you spell Bush, Obama and Hillary = COMMUNISM!

Conclusion

The United States was a gift from God, He created it, not us.  But more than half of our population do not walk with Jesus Christ.  Our government has banned God from the courts, from the schools, and anywhere they can get away with it.3 1

Therefore, God will disassociate Himself from our country, as Amos warned the Israelites He would do to them:

“And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

4So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name” (Amos 4:6-13).

The Apostle Paul warned of this:

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

4Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:

Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

5Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them” (Rom 1:18-32).

The Apostle John was very clear on the outcome:6

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.  If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but of the world [the devil].

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever” (1 Jn 2:15-17).

Was Alexander the Great fair to his soldiers?  Let’s look at…

Micah 2
Wicked Deeds of the Rich

1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand.

7 Impalement of Judeans
Impalement of Judeans by Assyrian soldiers(Neo-Assyrian relief).

2:1-5 – directed primarily against wealthy landowners who oppressed the poor.

2 And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

3 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil.

“Therefore” – because of the sins of Israel’s influential classes, calamity will strike.

4 In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.

“We…me!” – the rich landowners, on whom God’s judgment will fall.  There is bitter irony in the human condition; they had felt no qualms for the poor whose land they confiscated.

5 Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD.

6 Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.

“The” – the false prophets whose words were addressed to Micah.  Micah is employing the “disputation” genre also seen in Malachi.  In this genre the prophet is in ongoing dispute with his opponents, whether false prophets, corrupt priests or the wealthy.

7 O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?

One of the beliefs of that day was that no harm could come to those in covenant with God.  It is possible that the false prophets are quoting the Lord out of context…the God who would do only good.

8 Assyrian warriors

See especially 3:11 “they…say, is it the LORD among us?  None evil can come upon us.”

8 Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.

“2:8-9 – the extreme plight of the poor and atrocities of the right are a telling indictment on the failure of the kings whose sacred task was to establish justice.  Even pagan nations had a higher view of societal justice.

9 The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory forever.

10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

9 On the Lachish
On the Lachish reliefs in the British Museum, Israelite prisoners are shown being sent into exile by the Assyrians under Sennacherib, whose capture of Judean cities is recorded in 2 Kings 18:13.

11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

“Prophesy…of strong drink” – the place of alcohol in the world of the rich is a common prophetic subject.

12 I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.

13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.

Alexander’s Army

10 A statue by John Steell
A statue by John Steell showing Alexander taming Bucephalus
Ancient accounts state that Bucephalus died after the Battle of the Hydaspes in 326 BC, in what is now modern Pakistan, and is buried in Jalalpur Sharif outside of Jhelum, Pakistan.

Another account states that Bucephalus is buried in Phalia, a town in Pakistan’s Mandi Bahauddin District, which is named after him.

Alexander’s success owed much to his skillful coordination of infantry and cavalry. His heavy infantry units were armed with shields and spears and arrayed in a phalanx.

The classic Macedonian phalanx consisted of 16 rows of 16 men each, forming solid square that could resist attack from any direction. If soldiers at the perimeter fell, men stepped up to replace them.

Alexander’s infantry was often assigned to hold the center of the line and prevent enemy breakthroughs while cavalry on either flank swept forward. When required, however, rectangular phalanxes could adopt another formation such as a wedge and take the offensive.

Alexander himself led cavalry charges riding Bucephalus, a horse he grew up with. During his conquest of the Persian Empire, Plutarch wrote:

Alexander spared old Bucephalus and used another horse when “riding about and marshalling some part of his phalanx, or exhorting or instructing or reviewing his men . . . but whenever he was going into action, Bucephalus would be led up, and he would mount him and at once begin the attack.

During his climactic battle with Persian king Darius III at Gaugamela, Alexander waited to advance until opposing charioteers had assailed his infantry and been driven back. He then led a furious charge that routed Darius and the troops guarding him.

As Plutarch related:

When they saw Alexander close at hand and terrible, and driving those who fled before him upon those who held their ground, they were smitten with fear and scattered.

Execution by Assumption.
