Isaiah 49 – The Servant’s Call & Homosexuality

Hands OutI knew a guy that said he was born gay so he saw nothing wrong with it, finally he got AIDS and went blind before he died. Thankfully, for his sake, he accepted Jesus before he died.  

I just don’t understand why people are so stupid that they’ll wait until their life is so miserable that they can no longer sustain it before they accept Jesus. That’s what I did  and each day got worse and worse, but why couldn’t I see it? 

It would be horrible to find yourself spending eternity in hell, but not only that, you’ll have to spend it with the Muslims and the Catholics, like Obama and Michael, his wife.

Since we’re talking about salvation and hell, tomorrow I’d like to talk about what many people think that I disagree with.  They say that once you’re saved you can’t lose your salvation.  I don’t believe that is true because that would mean that once their saved they could then become a murderer, a rapist, a child molester, a homosexual, or anything.

“A poisoned shaft” – a special arrow kept in top condition until time for its use.  Arrows are used of God’s judgment in Deut 32:23, 42, of the deadly words of the wicked in Ps 64:3 and of Satan’s schemes and temptation in Eph 6: 11, 16.

3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

4 Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.

5  And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.

6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

Together with Gen 12:1-3; Ex 19:5-6, this verse is sometimes called the “great commission of the Old Testament” and is quoted in part by Paul and Barnabas in Acts 13:47.  The fulfillment of this passage begins with the church’s preaching of the gospel to all nations and climaxes with the submission of the nations to Christ in his future kingdom.

13 Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

14 But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.

15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb?  Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

17 Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

19 For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.

49:19-20 – the restoration of Israel will be astonishing and complete, and Jerusalem will be too small to contain all of its inhabitants.  The prophecy was partially fulfilled in the return from Babylon but will have its ultimate fulfillment when Christ returns to establish his kingdom on earth (cf Zech 2:1-5).

20 The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.

21 Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro?  And who hath brought up these?  Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?

22 Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.

23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.

24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?

25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

“With their own flesh” – during the siege of Jerusalem its people were reduced to cannibalism (Lam 4:10).

Homosexuality

You won’t find much in the Bible about homosexuality/lesbianism, but what God says is very clear.

God does not mince words, He has clearly condemned homosexuality.  It undermines the basis of His created order where He made Adam, a man, and Eve, a woman – not two men or  two women – to carry out his command to fill and subdue the earth (Gen. 1:28).6 God is angry

It was not man that made the law against homosexuality, but God Himself.   

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination (Lev 18:22).

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them (Lev. 20:13).

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?  Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9-10).

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature.7 No Gays in Republican Party

And likewise as the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient (Rom. 1:26-28).

Some say that the sin of homosexuality is worse than others, this is not true.  A sin is a sin.  Yet, the mindset that causes the person to commit whatever sin they commit sets the severity of the punishment for the sin:

And that servant, which knew his lord’s will and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

But the heat knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes shall be beaten with few stripes.  For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more (Lk 12:47-48).

Some say they were born gay, this could be true, but that is not an excuse to commit the act because it is against God.  You don’t sin against people, you sin against God. 8 Catholics

What kind of a person is God to punish people when they are born with the disease?  I’ll tell you what kind of God He is.  He is a God that through His love for us belittled Himself for us.  He lowered His standards and came down here to be a puny human being and then we crucified Him. 

Yet, He still loves us and is giving us a chance to get right with Him.  That’s the kind of God I have and He’s the only God.  What kind of God do you worship?

Therefore, what kind of people think God is unfair and homosexuality is cool?  I would have to say the gays/lesbians, liberals, democrats, Catholics, and of course, the president himself.  And these are the people you will spend eternity with in hell.
